Residential Lighting
Residential lighting systems that offer custom scene configuration and dimming features are usually available only through custom installers, and often require the use of complex software. But now, manufacturers are adding Echelon control technologies to LED lights, making lighting control systems more flexible and affordable. Why Add Controls?
Why Use Echelon Technology?
The Pyxos PlatformThe Pyxos platform is well suited for accent/shelf/under-cabinet lighting. It's also appropriate for general illumination in new construction projects since it lets you send more than 20W per node of power on the same cable used for networking. Pyxos FT technology lets you create a master-slave network with deterministic response times of 25ms or less and network throughput of 312.5Kbps. Pyxos networks use a twisted pair of wires as physical media and have cyclic redundancy check error detection, as well as 2-bit forward error correction built into the protocol. Pyxos High-Power Link PowerThe new Pyxos High-Power Link Power can supply ample power for residential LED lighting over the same cable that's used for control networking. High-Power Link Power uses low-cost Romex or equivalent 3-wire flat or twisted cable, which keeps system costs low. Royalty-Free Reference DesignOur reference design for Pyxos High-Power Link Power provides a fast time-to-market approach for application development, letting you go from concept to product in just a few weeks. This royalty-free design is optimized for a low-cost bill of materials and a small PCB area. See a third-party implementation of our design at www.bibaja.com/pyxos. LonWorks Power Line TechnologyLonWorks Power Line technology is a great fit for general illumination in retrofit applications where installing new wires is not an option. LonWorks technology is a peer-to-peer technology with distributed intelligence across the network devices. When power line is used as the physical media, LonWorks technology lets you send control signals over the AC mains lines over very long distances (up to 2 miles on unpowered lines). It also enables true plug and play with Interoperable Self Installation (ISI).
